AP Limited Editions presents a superb Shishiai Maki-e feature depicting a pristine landscape with Horses in a magical composition including grasslands, mountains, pine trees and water surfaces. The distant mountains and ground are depicted using the Shishiai Takamaki-e technique, where layers of charcoal powder fixed with Urushi lacquer is used to create depth and elevation.

Shimmering great green turban shells are used to craft the water surfaces. Every detail of this fine writing instrument is a tribute to the skill of the Maki-e Shi.

From the water expressed using shimmering great green turban shell bits, the eyes of the horse, crafted in silver-lipped pearl oyster shell and the trunk of the pine tree decorated with Gold Hirame powder to represent the texture of the bark; all fine details are exceptionally created.
